Portfolio: Carvings by Voghell
With a workshop full of unique carved furniture, art and lighting it was really just a matter of getting it organized and on the screen. The home page takes four of the artists' pieces which represent their main themes and presents them in a virtual room. The colours and the font choices were pulled either from their existing promotional materials or from their work.
Behind the scenes is another content management system, based loosely on other systems I had built for other artists, but with some modifications and improvements.
One twist in building their content management system was that some of their artwork was supported by more than one image, so extra database fields were required and the system allowed multiple image uploads at the same time.
This was also the first experiment with an automatic thumbnail editor. The client only has to worry about uploading the main images and the thumbnails are created on the server.
