This is a great audio editor. It lets you do effects like reverb, reverse, and a lot more editing like volume and equalizing), and you can import, edit and save as MP3.

Try the Swish trial for 15 days. It does work with frames in the timeline differently though. And Flash won't open Swish files.

Books

Teach Yourself Flash MX in 24 Hours - I don't have this book, but I don't mind the 24 Hours series, and it's cheap enough

Teach Yourself Visually Flash MX - this would be a good review book of Flash I, but it won't get you any farther. It barely touches on Flash 2 topics. It might fill in some of the gaps

Flash MX Unleashed - I've used this one to teach before and it has some good beginner stuff, and some good intermediate stuff. Costs more, though.

Once you start getting into Actionscript, buy a book that matches the verison you're working. There were lots of new functions added for Flash MX, and the language changed a lot for MX 2004 (although older code is still functional).
